Site design recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for how to go about designing a site starting from just an idea?

Hi,

Its nice to know that you want to create an ASP.NET application from scratch ... Let me tell you its gonna be tough if you wanna really make it good.

There are a lot things to be considered while we are developing an asp.net application right from the site design, deployment, architecture etc.

Answering your question site designing in ASP.NET 2.0 has been much easier there are a lot of features like master page and content pages concept, caching, site naviagation. You can develop a rich UI using controls like treeview. It allows you to esaily change the skins and themes of your application.

What I would recommend is first you have a rough draft ot layout of your screens prepared in word or if possible in HTML (this would be the best). Then create your web forms. Work on your color combinations and layouts etc.

By doing this your should be in a position of designing your own website.

If you have any queries please feel free to mail me.

Thank you Nasha for the response. Do you know of a website that shows color schemes and what colors work with each other? I know they make books on this but I thought someone might have a URL handy. Thanks again!

Here are some templates from microsoft, it's a really good starting point
