I was planing to create page for watching and uploading videos (smth. like Youtube), and I came up with this idea:
User uploads video in .flv format and link to that video is automatically added to database , name of movie and some other informations are also added, so when user clicks link to video that he wants to watch, page opens with video player created in Flash, that video player loads video from link (witch is stored in database) and that's it.
So please can you tell me is this going to work, or can you please give me some advice or tutorials (or smth. like that) for this.
Yes that is a common way of doing this. The thing I think you need to change is the format in which it is uploaded. I take video from any format and then I pass it to a flash encoder on another server that encodes it into flash, so the user does not have to worry about having the software to do this.
