We got this exhibition next week and they wanted a machine with a copy of the website on it.
So, bought new mahcine, installed xp, iis, vs, sqlserver.
Imported database(nearly 1G), copied over website, created vir directory, made it al work fine.
But, when I run it, after a while the site become unstable. Mostly database timeouts.
So went back...deleted unused sprocs, cleared talbes not neccessary (like site logs), disabled some database code (like logging pages), and much better now.
But still unstable at times. Anything one should do to prevent this? All this works perfect on the web server hosted in annother city.
Advantage is that on the "dummy" it's hell fast..perfect for sales people to lure people into buying services. lol.Are there any antivirus or software firewalls running on the machine (including XP firewall)? try disabling them and see if that helps...
Is the machine a totally isolated unit? (i.e. no reliance on any other machine)
